40 Years, 40 Lessons: From Trading Billions to Building a 12-Blog Empire

Intro: The Gates Are Open

I’m turning 40, and I’ve realized that for the last 11 years, I’ve been building in the dark. You’ve seen the RVs, you’ve seen the travels, and you’ve seen the ‘Blogging Brandi’ brand—but you haven’t seen the blueprints.

I used to trade billions of dollars on Wall Street. Now, I trade in freedom. I’m a Master Cosmetologist, a Finance degree holder, a sober dog and cat mom, and a Digital Estate Architect.

This is my ‘Architect’s Vault’—a living list of 40 things that shaped the woman I am today and the High Caliber Hacienda I’m building for tomorrow. Bookmark this page, because the vault is never truly closed.

Last Updated: [3.20.26] — The Vault is always growing. Check back as I reveal all 40 lessons from the Hacienda.

🏰 The Architect’s Vault:

🏛️ Chapter 1: The Corporate Blueprint (The “Billion Dollar” Foundation)

  • The “Master Cosmetologist” Logic: I’ve been a licensed Master Cosmetologist since I was 18. I can still cut a perfect fade, but these days, I prefer styling digital assets. Cutting hair taught me that everyone wants to feel seen. I don’t write for ‘algorithms’; I write for the person on the other side of the screen who needs a win. Like we are best friends – Hey Bestie 😉
  • The Finance Degree: I went to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. Plus I acquired a few other fancy licenses (i.e. Seires 7, Series 66, Insurance, Annuities, etc…) I’m a strategist who understands the math of freedom—it’s in my DNA and the core of Fancy Financials.
  • The Billion Dollar Button: Before I was a Digital Estate Architect, I was at BOA/Merrill Lynch trading billions of dollars with the push of a button. I traded Wall Street for the open road, and I’ve never looked back.
  • The Double-Life: For 9 months, I lived a double life: trading billions at my 9-to-5 while architecting an empire in the dark before I walked away for good. I’ve spent the last 11 years in ‘silence,’ proving that freedom isn’t a fluke—it’s a design.”
  • The “Vape” Mistake: My first online business wasn’t a blog—it was a vape liquid company called Smoke Serendipity. I got banned from ads, but it taught me everything about marketing “Don’ts” before I ever touched a blog.
  • My Sara Blakely Moment: “I used to skip work to watch Startup Bros webinars and hit thrift store clearance racks on my lunch break. I was running a reselling side-hustle while managing billions for BOA. My boss eventually called me in—not just about my ‘party dresses’ (I call it High Caliber fashion!), but about my search history and working from home. I knew then: if I wanted to work from home, I couldn’t work there. That was my sign to plot my exit.”
  • The 6-Month Exit Strategy: I spent 6 months preparing my departure. I sat at a trading desk with my boss right next to me, hiding my copy of The 4-Hour Workweek – by Tim Ferriss behind my monitor.
  • The Resignation Letter: I sent my resignation letter via email in Feb 2015 and never got a response—just my final paycheck. I walked away one day, physically and never looked back.”

🌲 Chapter 2: The Great Reset (Grief, Healing & 6 RVs

  • The Year of the Pivot (2015): While I’ve been building in ‘silence,’ as fast as my newfound freedom started, my world stopped. The truth is that the fall of 2015 was also the year I lost my child. In that grief, I didn’t just want “freedom” anymore; I needed a way to heal. I bought my first RV and hit the road to find my soul again.
  • From RV Life To Blogging: 6 Months After buying my First RV, it was totaled in an accident, all while I was running Ambay Exchange from the passenger seat, flipping items to stay afloat, but the road was calling me to something deeper.” So, I also leaned into blogging and into building a life that actually meant something. That was the year the foundation of the Hacienda was truly laid.
  • The Birth of a Brand (A “Mockery” turned into a Mission): “My boyfriend used to watch me and jokingly ask, ‘What are you going to do, be a blogger? “Blogging Brandi”?’ He was making fun of me, but I took that name and wore it like armor. I realized that if I was going to heal, I was going to do it out loud. I officially became Blogging Brandi, turning his joke into the foundation of my 12-blog empire.”
  • 6 RVs & Counting (The “Nomad” Tax & Minimalist Evolution): I’ve owned 6 RVs and currently manage my empire from a 2-RV fleet. Living in 6 RVs taught me that “stuff” is a liability. Digital real estate is the only thing I own that makes me more money, the less space it takes up. I didn’t start in a luxury rig. My first of 6 RVs was a lesson in ‘minimalism by necessity.’ Each upgrade was a physical marker of my digital estate’s growth. This obsession birthed RVersity, my dedicated RV lifestyle blog.
  • The Zoo Crew: After losing my child, I eventually found healing in rescuing animals. Now, I’m a mom to 5 dogs and 1 cat. Not only are they, The Grounding Officers: When the algorithm is stressful, my dogs and cat don’t care about traffic stats. They keep me from burning out. But they are also the Board of Directors that inspired Birdies Doghouse and Cattitude Chaos.
  • 3 Years of Clarity: I’ve been sober for 3 years. Scaling a business is easier when you’re 100% present. This journey is documented over at The Drops Of B.
  • Faith Over FOMO: “I’m an introvert and God-fearing. In a world screaming to ‘hustle harder,’ I learned that the best move is often to sit still and listen for the signal. This spiritual pivot is what led me to create Redirected Energy, my faith-based blog.”

💻 Chapter 3: The Silent Build (Architecting the 12-Blog Estate)

  • 12 Years, 12 Blogs: “I met my man in May 2014—meaning we are officially entering our 12th year together. The same year, I started laying the first bricks of my digital estate. That’s the exact same amount of time I’ve been architecting my 12-blog digital empire. We aren’t married yet 💍, but we’ve spent over a decade building a high-caliber life that most people only dream of.
  • The Birth of Ambay Exchange: “That thrift-store side hustle became Ambay Exchange, my reselling business and blog. It was the cash flow from flipping items that gave me the financial ‘runway’ to quit my job and eventually build the rest of my 12-blog empire.”
  • The Power of the Personal Brand: I am the thread that connects 12 different worlds—from RVing to Finance. Unlike “faceless” builders, I put my name on everything. My name is the seal of quality on every asset I build. By putting my name on every asset, I’m building a Legacy of Trust. I learned the hard way that you don’t need a ‘clean slate’ to start over; you just need to be the Architect of your own name.
  • The “Silent” Decade: I spent the years between 2015 and 2025 building in silence. I wasn’t ‘influencing’; I was investing. While others were posting for likes, I was busy acquiring domain names and building authority.
  • The Smartphone Empire: “I’ve spent thousands on gear over the years, but the truth is, I’ve recorded almost all of my YouTube videos and managed my business from the palm of my hand aka my phone. High caliber isn’t about the $5k camera; it’s about the message you send from the device you already own.”
  • The ‘Blogging Brandi’ Rebirth (The Mistake) “I once deleted my old ‘Bloggin Brandi’ profiles to start fresh as ‘Blogging Brandi.’ I left thousands of followers behind, thinking a clean slate was better than a messy history. It was a massive, painful mistake—but it taught me that rebuilding is a part of the architect’s journey. I’m still rebuilding today, and I’m doing it with more intention than ever.”

🥂 Chapter 4: The High Caliber Standard (The Hacienda Vision)

  • The Introvert’s Edge: I’m a total introvert. Being an introvert is my secret weapon. It’s funny because I make videos for a living, but I’m proof you can build a massive engine while living a quiet, low-key, location-independent lifestyle. While others are exhausted by the ‘social’ part of social media, I’m energized by the building part. My blogs speak so I don’t have to.
  • The 24-Hour Rule: “The markets never sleep, and neither does a global digital estate. I’ve built my blogs to earn while I’m sleeping in a van in the middle of a National Forest.”
  • The Risk/Reward Ratio: “At Merrill Lynch, I learned that every move has a cost. I apply that same ‘Billion Dollar’ logic to my 12-blog ecosystem. If a niche doesn’t have a clear ROI, it doesn’t get a seat at my table.”
  • The ‘Billion Dollar’ Habit: “Even when I was making $0 on a blog, I treated it like a BOA portfolio. I tracked the data, optimized the ‘trades’ (content), and stayed disciplined. Success is a habit before it’s a Sign in your bank account.”
  • The Janky Start: My first blog was messy. My first RV was small. But 11 years later, the Hacienda gates are finally open.
  • The Hacienda Vision: “Turning 40 isn’t the end of the road; it’s the beginning of the empire. The Hacienda isn’t just a place—it’s a standard of living that I’m finally ready to share.”

Conclusion: What’s Your Signal?

“This list is more than just memories; it’s proof that you can take every weird, ‘janky,’ or corporate part of your past and turn it into an asset.

I’m building this Hacienda for the high-caliber creators who are ready to stop chasing optics and start building estates.
