Calming the Chaos: How I Balance Life, Business, Travel, Pets & My Partner
Honestly, I’m blessed to be stressed out by the 5 dogs and 1 cat, plus the man in my life! But that leaves me little time to write… oh yeah, and the fact that I’m constantly traveling! From the condo to hotels, and of course, the RVs! I never get a minute to myself, sometimes I need help calming the Chaos — which is where these tips for dealing with overwhelm come in!
I can’t tell you how many blogs I’ve started, drafts I have pending, and folders full of ideas, notes, etc… that I’ve never posted! But that has all started to change… one step at a time! One day after the next, I’ve begun to pull together and get ready to finally start to hit publish on all the creativity that’s been burning inside! 🔥
It’s coming, I promise I’m due time! I’m only one person! I can only be in one place! I’m not perfect and I also have, well, how do I say it except I’m kinda HOMELESS at the moment, depending on how most people view a “home” vs a “house” which can be more than one! But a home is a safe place, a home base, with a dedicated space to work, sleep, eat, etc… I haven’t had THAT in a LONG time! Which also leaves me open to a lot of interruptions, inconsistencies, and a chaotic environment!
It’s my normal, not yours, but I’ve learned to adapt, make it work, deal with it… However, I’m tired AF and starting to feel the constant pressures of being a digital nomad, running an online business as an entrepreneur, and living a mobile life on the road, RVs, hotels, and Airbnb’s. I’ve done it all…
Tips For Finding Balance in a Chaotic Life:
Despite the chaos, I’ve been discovering ways to bring balance and structure to my life. Here are some strategies that have been helping me manage the whirlwind…

📌 Prioritizing Self-Care:
Even with a hectic schedule, I’ve learned that prioritizing self-care is not a luxury but a necessity. Taking time for myself, even if it’s just a few minutes here and there, has made all the difference in staying grounded and energized.
Whether it’s a quiet morning, a walk with the dogs, a few minutes of meditation, reading the Bible, or my Daily Motivation Books, these small moments of peace are essential.
Self-care isn’t just about spa days or long vacations—it’s about finding those small moments of peace amidst the chaos. Here are some of the ways I’ve been carving out time for myself:
Quiet Mornings:
I’ve discovered the power of a peaceful morning routine. YES, there is a Reason why I wake up early at 5am! Before the world wakes up, I try to find a few minutes of solitude to center myself. Whether it’s sipping a cup of tea, enjoying the sunrise, or simply sitting in silence, these moments give me a sense of calm before the day begins.
Taking Walks with the Dogs:
One of my favorite ways to unwind is to take the dogs for a walk or just play around with them. Not only does it give me a break from work, but it also allows me to enjoy nature and clear my mind. Whether I’m strolling through a park or exploring a new town, these walks are a time to refresh both my body and mind. Plus, they give me the chance to focus on something other than tasks or deadlines. ICYMI… My Dogs (and Johnny the Cat) are my Kids!
Meditation and Mindfulness:
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, taking just a few minutes to practice meditation or deep breathing helps me reconnect with myself. Even when my environment is hectic—like when I’m in a hotel or an RV—I can find a quiet corner, close my eyes, and focus on my breath. Some people might use Apps like Calm or Headspace to guide them through short mindfulness sessions — not something I’ve gotten into yet i.e. not my thing as I prefer reading vs listening to noise…
Spirituality and Reflection:
As someone who finds peace in spirituality, I dedicate a few minutes each day to reading the Bible or engaging with my Daily Motivation Books. These readings serve as a reminder to slow down and realign with my values, helping me maintain perspective in the midst of the chaos. I also take time to journal and reflect on my thoughts and feelings, which is therapeutic and grounding. Physical Self-Care:
While I’m on the go, I make it a point to move my body. I’ve found that short stretching routines or quick bodyweight exercises can make a huge difference, especially when I don’t have access to a gym or full workout space. Even in small hotel rooms or RVs, there’s always room for a few yoga poses or a quick stretch to release tension. I’ve also invested in small walking pads and under-desk treadmills! Not to mention a few gym memberships we use mainly when we’re RVing!
Setting Boundaries:
Prioritizing self-care also means learning How To Say NO Without Feeling Guilty by Setting Boundaries & Stop People Pleasing, (even with loved ones). It’s important to communicate when you need a break or some alone time, especially when you’re constantly surrounded by others. I’ve learned to be open with my partner and pets about needing moments for myself, whether it’s a quiet hour to read, meditate, or simply recharge.
Why This Matters:
Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential. By taking time to nurture my body, mind, and spirit, I’m able to show up as the best version of myself for my loved ones and my business. The chaos of life on the road can be exhausting, but these small, intentional moments of self-care help me stay balanced and resilient. It’s a work in progress, but I’ve found that even the tiniest moments of self-care can create big shifts in my energy and mindset.
Remember, self-care doesn’t need to be complicated. Whether it’s five minutes or an hour, it’s about carving out space for YOU in your day. The more you prioritize your own well-being, the better equipped you’ll be to handle whatever life throws your way.

📌 Embracing Flexibility:
Life on the road is anything but predictable. From last-minute hotel changes to unexpected travel delays, I’ve learned that plans can change at a moment’s notice. Instead of letting these surprises derail me, I’ve embraced flexibility as a core part of my lifestyle. Over time, I’ve realized that flexibility isn’t just about adapting to change—it’s about cultivating a mindset that allows me to find creative solutions, stay resilient, and keep moving forward. Here’s how embracing flexibility has made all the difference in my chaotic life:
Letting Go of Perfection:
When you’re living a nomadic lifestyle, there’s no such thing as a perfect schedule or ideal working environment. Sometimes, the Wi-Fi goes down, or a hotel room doesn’t have a desk, or I get a last-minute call to move to a different city. In these moments, I’ve learned that imperfection is the new normal. Rather than stressing over things not going as planned, I remind myself that flexibility allows me to adapt and adjust.
Rolling with the Punches:
Embracing flexibility means learning to roll with the punches and finding creative ways to keep moving forward, even when things don’t go as planned. For instance, if I get stuck in a place with unreliable Wi-Fi, I’ll look for a nearby café or co-working space. If my scheduled writing time gets interrupted, I shift my focus and tackle a different task that’s more flexible, like brainstorming ideas or responding to emails. When you’re flexible, you’re not tied down to one idea of what success or productivity looks like—you’re open to shifting gears and finding alternatives.
Finding Solutions, Not Problems:
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on the road is that every problem has a solution—it just might not be the one you expected. For example, if my partner and I are in a new city with pets and no place to walk them, we’ll search for a local park or pet-friendly space. If my schedule gets thrown off, I look for pockets of time to catch up or shift my priorities around. Being flexible means not getting stuck in frustration, but being creative in finding ways to keep my business, travel plans, and personal life moving forward.
Setting Realistic Expectations:
Flexibility works hand-in-hand with setting realistic expectations. While I love being spontaneous and adjusting plans as needed, I’ve also learned that it’s important to know my limits. For instance, if I’ve been on the road for weeks and need rest, I’ll adjust my work schedule to accommodate some downtime, even if it means delaying a project or rescheduling a meeting. Flexibility isn’t about doing everything at once—it’s about prioritizing and knowing when to adjust.
Staying Grounded Amidst the Chaos:
One of the challenges of a nomadic lifestyle is that it can feel like everything is constantly changing—new places, new routines, new faces. In this whirlwind, I’ve realized that my ability to stay flexible and adapt has allowed me to remain grounded. I focus on building small daily routines, whether it’s my morning walk, journaling, or a few quiet minutes to myself, that give me a sense of consistency amidst the chaos. Flexibility doesn’t mean chaos—it means finding peace and control in a constantly shifting environment.
Trusting the Journey:
Embracing flexibility is also about trusting the journey, even when things don’t go as planned. Life on the road is full of uncertainty, but I’ve learned that not everything needs to be figured out immediately. Some of my best experiences and opportunities have come from unexpected detours, whether it’s discovering a hidden gem of a town or meeting someone who changes my perspective. By staying flexible, I’ve learned to trust that things will work out, even when they’re not going according to my original plan.
Why Flexibility is Key:
At the end of the day, flexibility is more than just a survival skill—it’s an essential part of living and thriving in a fast-paced, constantly changing world. By embracing flexibility, I’ve not only been able to manage the chaos of life on the road but also turned it into an opportunity for growth and creativity. Whether I’m managing my business, traveling with my partner and pets, or adjusting to unexpected changes, flexibility has allowed me to find solutions and maintain momentum, no matter the circumstances.
For anyone living a mobile lifestyle or facing a hectic schedule, I encourage you to embrace flexibility and see it as a tool for success. When plans change, take a deep breath, pivot, and find a new way forward. Flexibility doesn’t mean giving up control—it means gaining the freedom to adapt, evolve, and keep moving toward your goals, no matter what life throws your way.

📌 Staying Organized:
When you’re constantly on the move and juggling multiple projects, staying organized becomes not just helpful—it’s absolutely essential. Between the endless drafts, ideas, client meetings, and travel plans, it’s easy for things to slip through the cracks. Over time, I’ve realized that a well-structured organization system is what allows me to keep my sanity intact while staying productive.
With countless drafts and ideas, staying organized is crucial. I’ve started using digital tools to keep track of my thoughts and deadlines, ensuring that nothing slips through the cracks. Not only do I write everything down physically, but I also keep track of tasks, events, files, folders etc… all digitally as well! I like to use “systems to help me stay organized online” that will automate and simplify, aka save me a lot of time!
I’ve learned that being organized isn’t just about keeping things tidy—it’s about creating systems that help me stay on top of everything without getting overwhelmed. Here’s a quick recap of how I do it…
Using Digital Tools for Task Management:
One of the best decisions I’ve made for staying organized on the road is embracing digital tools. Apps like Asana, Google Tasks, or even the Reminders App on my iPhone) help me keep track of all my tasks, deadlines, and projects. I break down big goals into smaller, actionable steps, which keeps me focused and prevents me from feeling overwhelmed. Other programs like Trello or Todoist will also be accomplish the same mission 😉
For example, in Asana, I create boards for each project (like blog posts, video launches, product, plus partnerships and much more) and organize tasks into manageable columns (e.g., “To Do,” “In Progress,” and “Completed”). This visual setup helps me stay clear on what needs attention and what’s already taken care of.
Creating a Digital Brainstorming Space:
It’s not enough to just jot down ideas—I need a place where I can gather and organize all my thoughts. I’ve started using the Notes app on my iPhone, along with programs like Evernote or a simple Google Doc, to capture everything from blog ideas to content inspiration.
These tools let me quickly capture ideas on the go (even with photos or voice notes). Allowing me to keep everything in one place, so I never have to worry about losing an idea while traveling or dealing with cluttered notebooks.
Streamlining Your Calendar:
When you’re living a mobile life, staying on top of appointments, deadlines, and important events is key. I use Google Calendar to keep track of all my events, from business meetings to travel plans, and I color-code different categories (work, personal, travel, etc…) to easily distinguish between them.
Setting reminders for deadlines and meetings helps me stay accountable and ensures nothing sneaks by unnoticed. Plus, syncing your calendar with your partner’s or team members’ calendars makes it so everyone is aligned in terms of availability and upcoming tasks, trips, appointments, you name it!
Organizing Files and Folders Digitally:
Physical paperwork and printed documents are a thing of the past in my mobile life. I use Google Drive (Google Workspace for business) and Dropbox to store and organize all my files, from contracts to blog drafts, video files, and so much more!
I create a folder structure that makes sense for my workflow—separating business documents, personal files, project-based folders, and client-related materials. This way, I can quickly access anything I need without wasting time hunting through scattered documents. It’s a game-changer when I’m working in hotels, RVs, or even on a plane.
Automating Repetitive Tasks:
The beauty of the digital age is the ability to automate a lot of the mundane tasks that used to take up valuable time. These automated systems free up time so I can focus on more creative and high-priority work. Automation is a key strategy to save time and energy, especially when life on the road can get unpredictable.
For Social Media, I’ve installed WordPress Website Plugins like Blog2Social and used programs such as Content Studio that all help with automation! From My Blog Posts, to posting on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, X (formerly Twitter), Pinterest, you name it!
Also Yes, you can write and send emails manually or save time by automating the process, either scheduling them to go out or setting up an RSS Feed Email Newsletter (via MailChimp). Which sends a snippet of your most recent blog post or you can send the entire blog post as an email to your list. I showed How To Build An Email List To Share Your Blog Posts (for FREE With MailChimp) — in my FREE Blogging Course — which is not only great for sending emails but also automating the process.
I’ve also used programs like IFTTT and Zapier to integrate my apps and automate tasks that would otherwise be repetitive — depending on the task I’m trying to automate! For instance, I set up workflows that automatically add new contacts from forms into my email marketing system or automatically post new blog posts to my social media channels.
Setting Up Systems for Consistency:
Organization is more than just about keeping things tidy; it’s about building systems that create consistency in my work. For example, I’ve developed a standard operating procedure (SOP) for everything—from writing blog posts to scheduling content to managing client projects.
By creating templates and workflows that I follow every time, I reduce the mental load of figuring out the “how” every single time. This system allows me to work efficiently and maintain high-quality results despite the constant changes in my environment.

Decluttering Your Digital Life:
Just like physical clutter, digital clutter can overwhelm you, making it harder to focus and be productive. I’ve worked to become intentional about regularly decluttering my devices, clearing out old files, emails, and apps I no longer use.
I also unsubscribe from unnecessary email lists and clean up my social media feeds so I can focus on what truly matters. A clean digital space helps me stay focused and reduces distractions, making it easier to get into the flow of work, even when I’m in an unfamiliar environment.
Reviewing and Reflecting Regularly:
Staying organized isn’t just about keeping up with the present moment—it’s also about making sure you’re progressing toward your long-term goals. I make it a habit to review my tasks, goals, and calendar at the end of each week.
This gives me the chance to assess my progress, plan for the week ahead, and adjust priorities if needed. It’s a small step that provides clarity and keeps me on track with my bigger projects and personal objectives.
Why Staying Organized is a Game-Changer:
When you’re constantly moving from place to place, staying organized becomes not just a way to manage your tasks, but a way to maintain control over your life and work. These digital tools and systems have allowed me to keep everything streamlined, even when my environment is constantly changing. Whether I’m in an RV, a hotel, or a new city, I know exactly where to find what I need, and I can manage my work efficiently without feeling scattered.
In the end, organization isn’t just about getting things done—it’s about creating a structure that supports your goals, enhances productivity, and minimizes stress. When life on the road feels overwhelming, having an organized system in place gives me peace of mind and ensures that I can keep moving forward without losing track of what matters most.
📌 Setting Realistic Goals:
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned while balancing life on the road, running a business, and caring for my pets and partner is that not all tasks are created equal. If I try to tackle everything at once, I quickly spiral into overwhelm. Instead of drowning in an endless to-do list, I’ve shifted my focus to setting realistic, achievable goals that keep me moving forward without burning out.
Here’s how I set goals that actually work:
1. Prioritizing What Truly Matters
Rather than trying to do everything in a day, I focus on the top 3-5 tasks that will make the biggest impact. Whether it’s completing a blog post, managing client work, or planning travel logistics, I ask myself:
- What’s urgent?
- What will move me closer to my long-term goals?
- What can wait or be delegated?
By prioritizing high-impact tasks, I ensure that even on my busiest days, I’m making meaningful progress rather than just staying busy.
2. Breaking Big Goals into Bite-Sized Steps
A massive project—like launching a new product, planning a big trip, or even writing a blog—can feel overwhelming. Instead of staring at the mountain ahead, I break it down into small, manageable steps. For example:
✅ Instead of “Write a blog post,” I set smaller goals like:
- Brainstorm blog topic ideas
- Outline key points
- Write the first draft
- Edit & format for publishing
By breaking projects into smaller wins, I build momentum and stay motivated rather than feeling stuck.
3. Setting Daily & Weekly Goals (Not Just Long-Term Ones)
Long-term goals are great, but without short-term execution, they remain just dreams. I’ve found that having a weekly goal-setting system helps me stay on track without feeling overwhelmed. At the start of each week, I ask:
- 📌 What are my 3-5 key priorities this week?
- 📌 What small steps can I take daily to make progress?
For example, instead of saying, “I need to launch a new digital product this month,” I break it into:
- Week 1: Research & outline product content
- Week 2: Create & design the product
- Week 3: Set up marketing & sales strategy
- Week 4: Launch & promote
Each day, I focus on small, actionable steps that contribute to these bigger weekly goals.
4. Using the “Done List” to Stay Motivated
Instead of just focusing on what’s left to do, I also keep track of what I’ve accomplished. This helps me stay motivated and recognize my progress—especially on days when I feel like I haven’t done enough. At the end of each day, I review:
- ✅ What did I complete today?
- ✅ What small wins can I celebrate?
- ✅ What can I shift to tomorrow without guilt?
Sometimes, even a simple mindset shift from “I didn’t do enough” to “Look at what I did get done” can make a world of difference.
5. Giving Myself Grace & Adjusting as Needed
No matter how well I plan, life on the road is unpredictable. Some days, my Wi-Fi crashes. Other days, I get interrupted a million times. And that’s okay. I’ve learned to:
- 🔄 Adjust deadlines when needed without guilt
- 🔄 Shift priorities if something urgent comes up
- 🔄 Give myself permission to rest when I need it
At the end of the day, progress is progress—no matter how small. I remind myself that setting realistic goals isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency and creating a system that works for my life, not against it.
✨ Why Realistic Goals Matter
By setting achievable daily and weekly goals, I’ve been able to:
- ✔ Stay productive without feeling constantly overwhelmed
- ✔ Make steady progress in my business while still enjoying life
- ✔ Avoid burnout by focusing on what truly matters
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try simplifying your goals. Focus on progress, not perfection—and watch how much more you can accomplish with less stress.
📌 Creating a Mobile Workspace:
Finding a consistent place to work can be challenging. I’ve learned to create a mobile workspace wherever I am, whether it’s a cozy corner in an RV or a quiet spot in a hotel.
Final Thoughts… The Journey Ahead
While the journey has been demanding, it’s also been incredibly rewarding. I’ve met amazing people, experienced new places, and grown in ways I never imagined. The chaos has taught me resilience and the importance of staying true to my passion.
