Lifestyle Sale: How I Turn Clutter To Cash (Week-END Challenge)

Over the past few months, as part of simplifying my life and space, I’ve been decluttering like crazy — mentally, digitally, and now physically.

From the RV to garage and closet cleanouts, I’m letting go of what no longer serves me and turning it into something that does!

This week, I decided to turn all that decluttering into a reselling cash challenge: my goal is to sell items I no longer need and make a little extra money while clearing space.

I’m listing items in my online thrift store, Poshmark, and eBay — basically my version of a virtual yard sale. So if you want to peek inside Brandi’s Closet & Lifestyle Sale, check it out here…

🧘 Declutter Series Update

Last month, I shared my digital and mental declutter checklists, and now I’m tackling the physical clutter in my life — closet purges, yard sales, and everything in between.

🤔 Why Decluttering Can Actually Make You Money

  • Most of us have items sitting around that we’ll never use.
  • Even small items — books, tools, clothing bundles, electronics — can bring in cash fast.
  • Bonus: decluttering clears mental space and makes your home feel lighter.

📌 Social Media / Pinterest idea: A flatlay of “Before vs After” decluttered items or a bundle of things you’re selling.

My Story: From Finance to Flipping

BTW, if you didn’t know, I quit my job in finance to start flipping and reselling items online! It was my first profitable business venture. What started out as a side hustle became a career!

Reselling gave me the funds and freedom I needed to stop working for someone else and start building something for myself. It was a stepping stone to the next business idea and so on…

💰 Cashing In On My Clutter: My 3-Step System

1️⃣ Pick Your Items

I walked through my closets, RV shelves, and storage bins and picked 10–15 items I know I don’t need anymore. High-ticket items like electronics or small appliances sell fastest, but even small items add up.

2️⃣ List Strategically

I’ve posted these items on:

Tips I used: clear photos, honest descriptions, and keywords people would search for.

3️⃣ Make It Easy for Buyers

  • Offer local pickup or discounted shipping.
  • Add a little urgency in the listing: “Everything must go this week!”
  • Accept fast payment methods like Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal.

📌 Social Media / Pinterest idea: Screenshot a few listings (without revealing personal info) with arrows and text overlay like “Closet Clear Out Sale”

💡 Bonus Tips for Selling Quickly

  • Bundle smaller items together to make them more appealing.
  • Cross-promote your listings on your blog — like I’m doing here!
  • Post updates on your blog for added urgency: “Only a few items left — grab them before they’re gone!”

One thing I love about Poshmark is their “closet widget” where you can use an HTML code to embed your listing into your website, a sidebar on your blog, etc…

📆 My Goal for the Week

I’m aiming to make $200–$400 just from items I already own.
Even if I don’t hit it perfectly, the process is helping me:

  • Clear clutter
  • Make extra cash
  • Get inspiration for future blog content

🙏 Even if you don’t need anything, sharing this post helps so much. I’m decluttering for a cause (and a goal!) 💛
